2nd Annual Invasive Species Awareness Week

North Carolina Invasives Awareness Week is scheduled for the week of April 1-7, 2012.

NCEPPC chooses to hold our week in April in the hopes that we will be able to reach a greater number of people and more effectively raise awareness of invasive plants and animals in our state during the time of year when people are spending more time outside.

In April, many invasive plants are beginning to bloom and citizens will more easily be able to identify and take steps to control invasive plants.  In addition, many people will be choosing landscaping plants for their yards.

NC Invasive Species Awareness Week includes:
  • Declaration of Invasives Awareness Week by Gov. Perdue.
  • Top 10 Invasive Plants Poll.
  • More and better news media coverage of events around the state.
  • Workshops around the state to educate consumers.
